Origins of Zionism – Instructor Version

Zionism’s roots date back to the Bible. The story starts with Abraham to whom God promises the Land of Israel as an everlasting possession. But when Abraham’s descendants fail to live up to their end of the bargain to keep faith with God and obey His laws, they are exiled. During their centuries of banishment, the Jews never relinquish the belief that they will one day return. Zionism is the modern representation of that ancient idea.
