
Prof. Larissa Bonfante
Larissa Bonfante, Professor of Classics Emerita at New York University, is an archaeologist and ancient historian, who has published on Greek and Roman history and culture, and most recently edited The Barbarians of Ancient Europe: Realities and Interactions. She is also the author of several books on Etruscan subjects – Etruscan Language, Etruscan Myth, Etruscan Life and Afterlife, founder and co-editor of Etruscan News, the Journal of the US Section of the Istituto di Studi Etruschi ed Italici, and editor, with Helen Nagy, of Highlights of the Antiquities Collection of the American Academy in Rome.
A member of the Archaeological Institute of America, the German Archaeological Institute, and the American Philosophical Society, she is preparing for publication the Jerome lectures, Images and Translations, which she presented in Ann Arbor and at the American Academy in 2007. In 2007 she was awarded the Gold Medal of the Archaeological Institute of America.
